  • Initiated, developed and sustained the partnership between St. Mary’s School Menston and Mnyakanya High School, South Africa
  • Introduced teacher exchanges to share best practice
  • Introduced student exchanges to develop global citizenship
  • Introduced Bambisanani Leadership Award and trained more than 200 Young Leaders in South Africa
  • UK and South African Young Leaders have established annual primary school Sports and Literacy Festivals in South Africa
  • Bambisanani Partnership objectives are included in the Development Plans of both schools
  • Engaged a wide range of curriculum areas in the partnership
  • Introduced joint learning projects in both schools in sport, health, creative writing and art
  • Provided much needed educational resources at Mnyakanya School for Sport, Maths, Sciences, Art, English, Technology
  • British High Commissioner to South Africa opens Bambisanani Library facility at Mnyakanya School
  • Worked with KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport and Recreation to support and train Sports Coordinators in the local community
  • Worked with KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport and Recreation to provide a multi-use games area at Mnyakanya
  • Established Bambisanani Enterprises – a student led business that is responsible for raising funds for the partnership
  • Established mentor programme for students involved in Bambisanani Enterprises with business leaders
  • Established link with Eshowe High School to support the partnership
  • Established link with Rotary Clubs in South Africa and UK to support the partnership
  • Established link with Mnyakanya's main feeder primary school, Ntolwane

  • Introduced the Laurie McCauley Awards at Mnyakanya for Creative Writing and Sport
  • Introduced the Sbonelo Magwaza Award at Mnyakanya and St. Mary’s for Outstanding Leadership
  • Teachers from both schools have spoken at International Conferences and published articles about the Bambisanani Partnership
  • British Council International Schools Award since 2009
  • St. Mary's Menston pupils received prestigious Diana Award for work in South Africa 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014
  • In 2013 Mnyakanya School the first South African School to receive the prestigious International Diana Award for ‘outstanding, sustained and selfless contribution to your community’. Mnyakanya pupils also received the award in 2014 and 2015.
  • Developed excellent relationship with British Council, Youth Sport Trust and Departments of Education in UK and South Africa
  • Three Bambisanani books published to widespread acclaim:

  • Bambisanani: The First Years featured at the high profile Ilkley Literature Festival
  • Bambisanani Partnership became the first international partnership to be accepted into the John Paul II Foundation for Sport
  • Mnyakanya School became the first ‘International’ School to be accepted into the John Paul II Foundation for Sport
  • Ntolwane Primary School became the first South African primary school to be accepted into the John Paul II Foundation for Sport
  • Bambisanani Partnership accepted into the influential worldwide Beyond Sport Network
  • Bambisanani Scholarship supporting Mnyakanya student through university to become a teacher
  • Bambisanani artwork features at 2014 Commonwealth Games Baton Relay event
  • Bambisanani featured at South African High Commission's 20 Years of Freedom celebrations
